Rosa Marín – Cefaleas

Physiotherapist, María Luján Center

“The patient no longer has headaches. In fact, she is delighted. Not only because of the TMJ, but because her headaches have disappeared thanks to NESA®. She has even begun to recover flavors after 10 years without sensitivity in her tongue.”

Rosa Marín, physiotherapist with 25 years of experience at María Luján Center, shares a clinical case especially striking for its complexity and for the unexpected results obtained.
The patient arrived with sequelae from a wisdom teeth operation performed 10 years earlier: pain in the temporomandibular joint, paresthesias in the tongue and partial loss of flavor perception in the middle lingual area — symptoms of neuralgic origin that had persisted for a decade without solution. Rosa proposed treatment with NESA in an exploratory way, combining the muscle relaxation program for the TMJ with program 9 of the trigeminal directly on the joint, always in combination with other techniques.
The results exceeded all expectations: headaches disappeared completely, TMJ pain remitted — precisely due to its neuralgic origin —, and the most surprising was that the patient began to recover the perception of flavors in the tongue after 10 years of sensory alteration. The multidisciplinary work with speech therapist complemented the results.
A case that opens a window toward the treatment of chronic neurological sequelae of dental procedures with NESA.
