Margarita María Quiroga Cárdenas, dentist specialist in orthodontics and dental sleep medicine, and university professor, shares her vision on the importance of continuing to expand the therapeutic options available for sleep disorders and other associated pathologies. In her testimony, she emphasizes the value of training new generations of professionals, both at undergraduate and graduate level, around the relevance of sleep, early diagnosis and timely treatment, with an increasingly preventive and integrative view.
From her experience, she considers that scientific meetings and spaces for exchange between specialists are fundamental to disseminating new tools, raising awareness among more professionals and facilitating that patients access more complete approaches. In this context, she values NESA technology as a non-invasive, comfortable and well-accepted therapeutic option, which can open new opportunities both for patients and clinicians. As she explains, she had already had previous contact with this neuromodulation line and considers that it has a promising scientific basis, which justifies maintaining an open attitude toward its incorporation into clinical practice.
Furthermore, she highlights that its usefulness is not limited only to sleep, but can be relevant in problems such as bruxism, orofacial pain and temporomandibular alterations. For Margarita Quiroga, the essential thing is to continue betting on different alternatives, based on evidence and oriented to improving the patient’s quality of life with increasingly accessible and less invasive treatments.
