The testimony of Carme Herrera and Laia Blanco, physiotherapist and co-director of RAC Barcelona, highlights the impact a comprehensive approach can have in cases of complex overactive bladder, especially when associated with a connective tissue disease.
Carme came to consultation after years of treatment, physiotherapy, exercises and different strategies aimed at improving bladder control and pelvic floor functionality. Although the evolution had been positive, an important conditioning factor persisted that prevented completely normalizing bladder behavior. Even so, the treatment had managed to keep hyperactivity episodes well below initial levels.
As Laia Blanco explains, until that moment the approach included work on pelvic floor musculature, bladder education, healthy habits and neuromodulation through the posterior tibial nerve. With the incorporation of NESA technology, the team considered the possibility of taking a further step in the patient’s clinical evolution.
For her part, Carme Herrera highlights that, after starting this treatment, she began to notice particularly evident improvement during the day, with a greater feeling of calm, less anxiety and less constant worry about the need to go to the bathroom or the possibility of having leaks. This case reflects how the integration of new therapeutic tools can contribute to improving stability, safety and quality of life in patients with complex urological conditions.
