Paloma Bustos, traumatologist who discovered NESA as a patient after suffering an accident, is currently forming a NESA unit in Andorra after leaving conventional hospital practice.
Her motivation to specialize in sleep starts from a very personal experience: doctors and surgeons themselves, with 34-36 hour shifts, suffer firsthand the devastating impact of sleep deprivation on their quality of life and performance. This experience makes her an especially authentic voice on the topic. She has used NESA with co-workers with sleep alterations due to shifts and guards, observing important improvements in rest and morning energy.
From her traumatological perspective, she explains how sleep and stress directly condition tissue healing: a patient with altered sleep not only takes longer to recover, but has greater predisposition to repetitive injuries. The vicious circle is clear: the injury generates stress and insomnia, and insomnia deteriorates the reparative capacity of tissues and the emotional response to the injury.
NESA appears as a tool to break that cycle, improving sleep, reducing stress associated with trauma and optimizing recovery. She herself uses it personally in moments of high stress, and her family members have been her first test cases.
