Anabel García

Urological nurse, Virgen Macarena University Hospital, Seville

“We have started doing the pilot with NESA… one of my motivations to move forward with this project was that I saw they were patients whose quality of life was quite affected.”

Video description

Anabel García, urological nurse at Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville with 7 years in urology and 2 in specialized consultations, presents the results of her pilot study with NESA technology in 6 patients: three with urgency incontinence and three with chronic pelvic pain.
The results after 6 sessions are conclusive: pelvic pain improved in 100% of patients, one of them reduced her catheterizations from 3 to 2 daily, nighttime urinary frequency went from 2-3 trips to none in all patients, and anxiety improved notably. Patients with urgency incontinence report greater retention capacity, and several spontaneously mention the disappearance of generalized pains not directly treated.
She describes in detail the therapeutic ambiance created: blanket, dim light, relaxing music and candles. The result is that all 6 patients fall asleep during the session, finding a disconnection space that they also had as an unmet need.
The starting point was seeing patients who had lost jobs, stopped going out and developed depressions due to their pathology. The phrase that most impacted her was that of one patient: “getting up without pain for me is giving me life”.
