Mónica Alonso, 49-year-old resident of Añaza, shares a deeply emotional testimony of survival and recovery. Three years ago she suffered an aneurysm that triggered an ischemic stroke with severe brain hemorrhage, spending several months in a coma. As sequelae she was left with brain damage on the left side — affecting arm, hand and leg — in addition to chronic fatigue and insomnia that required medication.
The most impactful moment of her testimony occurs in the first NESA session: she recovered the memory of the movement of her left hand that her brain had forgotten for three years, and she could move her thumb. The emotion was so intense that she burst into tears unable to stop — especially significant because she also had difficulty crying as a neurological sequel. “First I felt the movement in my head and then I was startled because I thought I was moving my hand”.
With the sessions chronic fatigue improved, which she describes as devastating for daily life and rehabilitation, and sleep quality improved significantly after withdrawing sleep medication. After 10 sessions she was very happy and recommends NESA especially to people with chronic fatigue and post-stroke hemiplegia.
