Marta Guanche recounts her experience after suffering a traffic accident that left her with an ulnar nerve injury in her right arm. After surgical intervention she developed Sudeck syndrome, with very severe functional limitation of the arm, continuous pain, intense cramps and profoundly altered nighttime rest. For years she went through the pain clinic and received numerous treatments without managing to effectively control the symptoms, alternating between periods of intense pain and cramp episodes that prevented her from resting and maintaining a normal life.
Faced with this situation, she decided to begin treatment with NESA. As she explains, from the first sessions she began to notice changes, especially in sleep quality, one of the aspects she had had most deteriorated for a long time. As treatment progressed, the nighttime cramps disappeared and the pain decreased very significantly, to the point of going from a situation of persistent pain to one in which she could practically live without pain.
Although over time there was some relapse and the process was interrupted by the pandemic, the overall improvement was maintained. Marta also highlights important functional advances, such as being able to support weight, hold her arm up or perform daily tasks with greater strength and control. For her, the greatest achievement has been to recover quality of life, reduce medication and return to performing activities that were previously impossible.
