Luis Serra, Rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Chair of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, shares an institutional and academic view on the value of applied research in the field of health and the potential of collaboration between university, technology and clinical practice. In his intervention, he highlights the university’s commitment to quality teaching, cutting-edge research and a decided commitment to innovation, emphasizing that projects developed together with NESA World fully fit into that future strategy.
As he explains, the incorporation of research lines in electrophysiology and neuromodulation represents a particularly valuable opportunity to expand knowledge and open new therapeutic applications in fields such as physiotherapy, nursing, neurology, intensive medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, sports medicine, rehabilitation or home treatment. From his perspective, the fact that the university houses an electrophysiology laboratory and participates in pioneering studies in this area reinforces not only the scientific quality of the project, but also its capacity to translate into real benefits for the health and quality of life of patients.
Luis Serra also focuses on the relevance of the autonomic nervous system as a regulator of multiple body functions and on the importance of sleep, rest, nutrition and physical activity as essential pillars of health. For him, advancing in these lines means expanding the therapeutic arsenal available and strengthening more innovative, integrative medicine oriented to people’s well-being.
