Lorenzo, manager of Ciudad de San Juan de Dios in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, presents an institution with more than 50 years of trajectory in comprehensive care for people with disability, both intellectual and physical, in an age range from 0 to 65 years. Its physiotherapy and rehabilitation service is a reference in the Canary Islands.
The institution has evolved from the treatment of polio sequelae to addressing complex pathologies such as autism and severe intellectual disability, always from a holistic person-centered approach, with values of hospitality, dignity and spirituality. They actively collaborate with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in clinical research lines.
In this context, NESA technology has represented a significant advance, especially due to the particularities of its users: patients with high emotional instability and irritability. NESA has allowed reducing imbalances in physiotherapy protocols, improving sleep quality and intestinal motility, which generates levels of emotional stability that enhance the effectiveness of other therapies such as speech therapy or conventional physiotherapy.
