Beatriz Martínez, physiotherapist specialized in pelvic floor, explains that she has been working for almost 20 years as a lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the European University of Madrid, in addition to being part of the pelvic floor unit of One Life, a multidisciplinary center dedicated to addressing pain.
What catches her attention most about NESA technology is that it is neither invasive nor painful, especially in a context in which many treatments can be uncomfortable for the patient. She points out that a non-invasive, painless tool with good results deserves to be known in depth. She also highlights as a motivating aspect NESA’s interest in researching and providing scientific evidence, something she considers key for the growth of the profession.
From her experience, she seeks new tools for patients who resist the usual treatments, especially those with chronic pelvic pain. She describes these patients as people who have been visiting different specialists for years, with low self-esteem, few expectations of improvement and much demotivation, although also with a desire to receive help.
She especially values the interdisciplinary approach of the course, where urologists, gynecologists and physiotherapists address the same problem from different, complementary and integrative perspectives. For her, this joint work represents a challenge and a great responsibility.
