Beatriz Raya focuses on the value of a comprehensive approach to the person, especially at moments of great emotional vulnerability. In her testimony, she explains that one of the most important parts of her work is accompanying those going through difficult situations, helping them recover little by little a sense of stability and hope. From that perspective, she highlights NESA as a particularly valuable tool due to its capacity to intervene on basic body functions that escape voluntary control, but that decisively condition daily life, such as sleep, anxiety or general activation level.
As she explains, the fact of acting from the body and on the autonomic nervous system allows preparing the ground for other subsequent treatments to be more effective. In this sense, she considers that improving nighttime rest and reducing internal tension not only has an immediate positive effect on well-being, but also facilitates addressing other alterations that may be maintaining the person’s psychological and physical malaise.
The intervention also emphasizes an important idea: not all patients are in condition to perform from the beginning active regulation or relaxation techniques. Therefore, she values NESA as a passive, simple and accessible first step, capable of helping to regulate high levels of anxiety and serving as a base for other psychological treatments to subsequently develop with greater effectiveness.
