Marta Compte, clinical psychologist, EMDR therapist, expert in high abilities and forensic psychologist, shares her interest in NESA technology as a complementary tool in addressing patients with simple trauma and complex trauma. From her clinical experience, she explains that many of the people she treats present persistent alteration of the autonomic nervous system, especially sustained activation of the sympathetic system, as a consequence of prolonged experiences of alarm, danger or accumulated suffering throughout life.
In this context, she considers that neuromodulation can bring very relevant value as support to psychotherapeutic work, especially in patients who cannot reduce that state of hyperactivation on their own. As she points out, one of the great challenges in complex trauma is precisely helping the person to recover more adaptive regulation, improve their rest, decrease anxious symptoms and favor a more stable sense of well-being. Therefore, she hopes that NESA will contribute to lowering that chronic sympathetic activation and facilitating better quality of life.
Marta also highlights that this technology has been for her a very satisfying discovery, to the point of wanting to share what she has learned with colleagues and professionals in her environment. Her testimony conveys an integrative vision of mental health, in which tools such as neuromodulation can complement psychological intervention and enrich the approach to particularly complex and vulnerable patients.
