Mónica de la Cueva, professor at European University and main researcher of a project developed together with NESA, shares her vision on the importance of scientifically validating this technology and precisely understanding what happens in the body during its application. In her testimony, she explains that the agreement with NESA not only includes financing and equipment provision to research, but also a training commitment that allows integrating research, teaching and clinical practice in different study areas.
As she relates, work is currently being developed on master’s thesis projects, doctoral theses and projects in consolidated research groups of the university, both in clinical applications and in studies oriented to better understand the physiological mechanisms that are activated when this technology is used. Among the aspects that interest her most, she mentions the analysis of blood flow and vascularization to observe how NESA can influence the regulation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. From her perspective, it is especially important to investigate not only in patients, but also in healthy subjects, to learn with greater rigor what changes this tool really produces.
Mónica also emphasizes that research and training must always advance together, since only thus can safe, effective application supported by evidence be guaranteed. For her, joint work between universities and companies is key to consolidating new technologies and transferring them to the clinic with true scientific foundation.
