“I think NESA enhances the manual treatment we perform, improving the results we obtain through osteopathic and manual techniques, especially in the autonomic nervous system, a key area in physiotherapy.”

Margarida Duarte, Portuguese physiotherapist with postgraduate in manual therapy and osteopathic techniques, training in Clinical Pilates and specialization in musculoskeletal and geriatrics, shares her vision on NESA technology from an integrative osteopathic perspective.
Her interest in NESA arises directly from her training in osteopathy: addressing the body as a whole and the importance of the autonomic nervous system are pillars of this discipline that, however, conventional physiotherapy still does not address sufficiently. For her, not working on the sympathetic-parasympathetic balance is one of the reasons why physiotherapy does not always achieve the objectives it should.
Her most illustrative clinical case is a 96-year-old patient with chronic lower back pain, neck pain, chronic gastritis and anxiety, where the pain constantly migrates from one area to another — lumbar spine, upper limb, knee — in a pattern clearly related to stress and autonomic dysfunction. She expects NESA to act by reducing anxiety and symptomatology globally, simultaneously addressing the cervical, lumbar and gastrointestinal complaints.
She highlights NESA as a profitable tool because it improves sleep quality from the first day, accelerates recovery and reduces total treatment time, something that patients enormously value.
