Juan Manuel Poyato Galán, medical specialist in family and community medicine and in urology, head of the Andrology, Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit at Valme Hospital, shares his vision on the potential of NESA technology in addressing pathologies with a significant neurological and autonomic component. In his testimony, he explains that his interest in this tool initially arose through its application in urinary problems, such as overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder or chronic pelvic pain, but soon expanded that view toward the field of male sexual health.
From his experience, he considers that NESA can represent a particularly interesting way in the treatment of dysfunctions such as pain during intimate relations, erectile dysfunction or ejaculatory alterations, conditions in which the regulation of the autonomic nervous system can play a relevant role. He also emphasizes that this is a tool with great value both as a main treatment in some cases and as a complement within a broader and more comprehensive approach.
Poyato also values the capacity of this technology to foster more collaborative medicine, in which different professionals can work in a coordinated way to design personalized therapeutic strategies. In his view, true progress lies not only in alleviating symptoms, but in treating the person completely, humanely and rigorously, opening new possibilities of research, innovation and improvement in patients’ quality of life.
