Dr. Sandra Castaño, medical specialist in pediatric pulmonology, practices at the Torre Médica del Centro Comercial Tesoro in Medellín, Colombia. She is one of the pioneers of NESA in Colombia, where the technology already has a presence in Bogotá and Medellín, and has only been working with it for a month together with another doctor in her office.
From her pediatric specialty, she focuses on the importance of sleep in child development: unlike adults, in children restorative sleep has a direct impact on growth, learning consolidation and memory, with consequences that extend to future development. She highlights that NESA’s imperceptible characteristic is especially valuable in children, since children accept it with greater tranquility and facilitates treatment adherence.
She observes growing demand in Colombia: patients who learned about NESA during trips to Spain and then discovered it is already available in their country. She acknowledges that there is still a lack of dissemination and that they are working on making themselves known. With only one month of experience, she is already observing good results in the first patients attended.
